Vermont is part of ISO New England. Green Mountain Power, the state's largest utility, has led utility battery programs: it offers both an upfront Bring Your Own Device incentive for customer-owned batteries and a 10-year battery lease in which GMP can use the battery to manage peaks.

You buy your own battery from any installer, and GMP pays an upfront rebate in exchange for using it to cut peak demand.

Green Mountain Power Energy Storage System Lease

GMP installs a battery it owns at your home. It can use the battery at its discretion to manage the grid, and you get backup from whatever energy is left during outages.
